Joel graduated with a Master’s Degree of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, where he primarily studied Chinese acupuncture, herbology, and Zen Shiatsu - a Japanese style of massage. Joel is currently a Colorado and New York state licensed and Nationally certified acupuncturist. He is a recognized diplomate of Acupuncture by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). He is certified in Clean Needle Technique and is a member of the Acupuncture Association of Colorado.  Joel has been on the path to becoming an Eastern Medicine practitioner for as long as he can remember.

Prior to earning his Master’s Degree in Eastern Medicine, he achieved registry as a national EMT-B in California. His undergraduate studies included a diverse variety of interests and subjects, including organic agriculture, welding, woodworking, social work, and art education. His years of experience in various settings, combined with his education, knowledge, and compassion, allow him to help his patients with their physical pain and internal medical conditions.


Joel has successfully used acupuncture and Eastern Medicine to treat a wide variety of conditions, including mental, emotional, and spiritual ailments, as well as chronic and acute pain. Although his formal training is in Traditional Chinese and Japanese Medicine, he also draws on wisdom acquired from various traditions and experiences from his spiritual path, including that of his indigenous South American ancestry.


In addition to being a practitioner, Joel is an artist, musician, and writer and loves being in nature. He is honored to work with you at Mulberry Acupuncture and Wellness.
