Abdominal Therapy is a holistic approach to health and wellness rooted in the ancient techniques of Mayan massage practices. This therapy is based on the teachings of Dr. Rosita Arvigo, DN, and involves gentle massage and fascial release of the abdomen, low back, hips, and sacrum to restore optimal alignment and balance to the internal organs and connective tissue.

By reintroducing mobility to the abdomen and pelvic bowl, Abdominal Therapy can enhance fertility and provide relief from menstrual, urinary, and digestive complaints. This therapy also addresses the root of chronic disease and pathologies by restoring proper blood, lymph, nerve, and energy flow, which are essential for optimal organ function, hormone balance, healthy conception, pregnancy, mental and emotional well-being, and overall health.

What to expect...

Initial sessions are scheduled for 90 minutes. We will discuss your health history, set health goals, and address any questions or concerns you may have. Treatment involves hands-on massage to the abdomen, back, hips, and sacrum. Following treatment, you will learn to perform Your Abdominal Massage (YAM), a powerful self-care massage, and receive a YAM take-home guide.

YAM takes about 10 minutes to complete, and we encourage daily practice between professional sessions for accelerated and lasting results. If you feel you are unlikely to practice YAM on your own, we encourage you to schedule follow-ups as often as twice per week until your symptoms have resolved.

There are a few things to note before you schedule:

  • Generally, it is best to receive Abdominal Therapy early in your cycle, after menstruation ends.

  • For those planning to conceive: You should begin Abdominal Therapy 3 to 6 months before actively trying. This means you are taking precautions so as not to conceive during this timeframe.

  • For those actively trying to conceive: Schedule sessions early in your cycle, after menstruation, and before ovulation.

  • Postpartum: After a vaginal birth, wait six weeks and/or for bleeding to stop before starting Abdominal Therapy. After cesarean birth, wait three months and be sure all incisions are healed.

  • If you currently have an IUD (intrauterine device), a hernia, are receiving AST (assisted reproductive technology), are currently pregnant or menstruating, have had surgery, or have certain medical conditions, sessions are modified to your needs.

This therapy is unique in that for best results, we recommend two treatments per week for three consecutive weeks - a total of six sessions.
